New York City lawyer Richard Pu has been recognized as one of the 2015 New York Area’s Top AV Rated Lawyers, based on a rating of 5.0 out of 5 by Martindale-Hubbell, the standard lawyers directory. He was born in Hong Kong in 1950, and speaks some Mandarin. He received his B.A. cum laude from Harvard University in 1972, and an M.S. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 1973. Mr. Pu received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1977; while earning his degree, Mr. Pu served as an editor of the New York University Law Review. From 1977 through 1983, Mr. Pu was a litigation associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell, a large Wall Street law firm--except that from 1978 to 1979, Mr. Pu was on leave to clerk for the Honorable Lloyd F. MacMahon, a prominent federal judge in New York City. After leaving the large firm in 1983, Mr. Pu was a lawyer at the New York Telephone Company, where he was engaged in regulatory and commercial litigation.
